Set in the grounds of the riverside Royal Naval College, the University of Greenwich is one of the most spectacular locations of any uni. It’s one of just a few based in a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main Greenwich Hospital building was designed by Christopher Wren and built at the turn of the 17th-century. Its alumni include rapper JME and Star Wars actor John Boyega.
The University itself was founded in 1890 and today caters for 20,000 students. Alongside the main campus, there’s also the Avery Hill Park campus further away in Eltham. Set in 86 acres of green space, it features a TV studio, a sports centre, playing fields, a dance studio and clinical skills labs. Astroturf pitches are also being planned for the site.
The main campus area of Greenwich is full of life, nature and culture. There’s beautiful views over the uni and London from the hill in Greenwich Park and the adjacent Royal Observatory. There’s also the Royal Maritime Museum next door plus the Cutty Sark and Greenwich Market. Both our Paris Gardens and Bankside buildings are round the corner from Southwark Station, which takes you to the Greenwich campus in 30 minutes.
